NPA begins an appraisal of DSUs submission

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) may have begun a critical appraisal of a submission made by the Delta State University DSU, soliciting for corporate assistance in exercise of its social corporate responsibility.A delegation from the DSU, led by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Lolo Izonfuo, made the submission at an event in the organisations headquarters in Lagos, to mark the institutions forthcoming 10th Anniversary celebrations and Launching of Endowment Fund of the university slated for May, this year.Confirming this in Lagos, NPA General Manager and Legal Adviser, Mrs. Obiageli Anubi, who received the delegation on behalf of the Managing Director, Omar Suleiman assured other communities within the organisations neighbourhoods that such gesture would not be restricted to DSU but equally extended to them too.She expressed the authoritys commitment towards identifying host communities aspirations with a view to  supporting them.On the DSU, she stated that while management nurtured a good vision for responsible neighbourliness, special effort might however be made towards assisting to boost the institutions march for manpower development, adding that it was for this reason that the NPAs engineering department had been tasked to undertake the appraisal in a bid to accurately determine the extent of assistance that might be considered relevant to the need of the university.It would be recalled that Professor Izonfuo who led the delegation actually gave details and objectives of the endowment fund, as well as the current activities of the university in academics and extracurricular activities, pointing out that the endowment, if properly harnessed, would assist in the growth and refurbishment of the 10 year old institution.
