IT  was jubilation galore for residents of a community called Oladele Phase 2 area of Gbekuba, Apata, Ibadan, Oyo State, when they noticed the presence of engineers and workers of the Oyo State Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, in their community with what they described as sign of desire to commence work on some of the bad roads, especially that of rehabilitation of the Oladele Phase 2 major road. The residents, apparently overjoyed with the rehabilitation work, showered encomium on the Nigerian Tribune , saying the news published by the Community News in the February edition of Nigerian Tribune brought the relief to the suffering  dwellers of the community, as it had prompted the state government to look towards the direction of the community in the area of road rehabilitation. The chairman of  Oladele Phase - 2 residents Association, Alhaji Rasheed Lawal, who spoke with Community News on the quick response of the Oyo State government to their problems, reiterated the need for quality and long-lasting rehabilitation work on the road, stressing that the residents of the community had suffered enough in the last 22 years. In his words, you people (referring to Community News) helped us to expose the suffering we were experiencing in your recent newspaper report and now, the state government has showed interest in the case in the community. We therefore express happiness towards what your newspaper is doing in recent times to give the hopeless and voiceless an opportunity to speak out their problems. We also salute the state government for making move to solve problems in our community. We are happy for the latest  effort to repair the road for us and we pray it wont  turn out to be an abandoned project.Alhaji Lawal, on behalf of other members of the community, also prayed  for  the governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala and the administration of  Ido Local Government Area Council, while asking them to expedite action on the road rehabilitation before the rainy season.
