OPC members fault suspension order

Published by Tribune on Wed, 30 Mar 2011

The four suspended members of the Osun State Chapter of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) have called for full investigations into the allegation raised against them by the leadership of the group in the state. The aggrieved persons, in a statement jointly signed, faulted the purported suspension order clamped on them by the bleadership of the group, saying that they were being witchhunted by certain group of people in the organisation. It will be recalled that four chieftains of the group were said to have been removed over alleged gross misconduct and partisanship. The national publicity secretary of the organisation, Prince Olagboyega Akanni , in a statement ,said that the expulsion of the four members was part of the efforts of the leadership of the organisation to sanitise the group. Those said to have been expelled include Chief Asore Nurudeen, Hon. Timothy Alalade, Hon. . Waheed Olaniyan and Prince Alaka Tajudeen. But in a swift reaction to the expulsion order, the aggrieved persons accused the leadership of the group of being sentimental in handling the affairs of the group and the matter in question. While noting that no leader within the structure of the group had the power to dismiss or suspend any member other than the founder of the group, the aggrieved persons said that the allegation raised was not properly investigated before the punishment was meted out to the m.One of the aggrieved persons said that he was on sick bed when the notice of his suspension was communicated to him, adding that no investigation was conducted to prove the allegation levelled against them.
