Yola North improves on revenue generation

The Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State generated N1 million monthly as internal revenue, the chairman of the council, Alhaji Mohammed Attah, said on Sunday.Attah told  newsmen in Yola that the amount was a remarkable improvement, compared to the initial N400,000  being generated monthly a year ago.Before we arrived at what we are getting now,I dont think we were getting up to N400,000 monthly in the local government, and this is a metropolitan local government area with around  three million people, he said.The council chairman said he had to reconstitute the revenue collection committee three times to make a headway.He, however, expressed regrets over the take-over of the councils market and motor vehicle park, its major sources of revenue, by the state government, saying that the council had opened  dialogue with the state government to recover them.Attah also said the council was looking into the possibility of raising the standard of its guest house to a three-star hotel, to serve as another source of revenue.
