Borno Declares State Of Emergency In Education Sector

THE gross neglect of education infrastructure, boarding and teaching facilities by previous administrations, hascompelled the Borno State government to declare a 'state of emergency' in the education sector, by according it topmost priority in the 2012 Appropriation and Financial Bills of N130.61 billion, Governor Kashim Shettima has stated.The governor made the disclosure on Thursday while presenting 2012 budget to members of the state House of Assembly in Maiduguri, the capital.His words: 'Government will therefore adequately fund the Ministry of Education to enable it not only effectively coordinate the activities of tertiary institutions in the state, but also rehabilitate all infrastructures and facilities of the tertiary institutions.
