Former commissioner in charge ofoperations of the National Hajj Commission and Head of Department of Religion, University of Ilorin, Dr Yusuf Lanre Badmus, has called on the Federal Government to prevail on security agencies not to abuse the state of emergency order issued on some states of the federation.Speaking at a Muslim community enlightenment programme organised by Kwara State Muslim Youth in Ilorin, Dr Badmus noted that such had been the usual occurrence in many situations in the country.According to him, the state of emergency put in place by the Federal Government in some local governments in Borno, Yobe, Niger, Plateau states might not be the solution to the Boko Haram crisis, adding that government should strengthen security agencies at the borders of the country. He explained that such an emergency order might be hijacked by enemies of the country who didn't live the coorperate existence of the country.'All those masterminding this act of terrorism in some parts of the country cannot be called Muslims, as Islam does not allow shedding of blood of any person. Muslims and Christians in the country are one and nobody should create what does not exist that can lead to lack of peace in the country,' he said.Dr Badmus also called on Nigerians to accord the required respect to the office of the Sultan, as that was the highest religious rank for the Muslims in the country.Earlier in his address of welcome on the occasion, the chairman, Kwara Muslim Youth, Mallam Abdulrazasq Abdulwahab Al- Ameen, called for the unity of Muslims in the country. He said Islam preach peace and that Muslims should be united to be able to promote the peace required to move the religion and the country forwars.
