Youth group commended for communal efforts

A socio-culturalgroup, DurowojuYouths Club in Oyo town, has been commended for channelling its activities towards the development of Oyo community and its environs.Giving the commendation was Mr Gbenga Durowoju during the grand finale of the week-long activities of the club's annual carnival and inauguration of new executive members for the club, held at the Durowoju Junction, Oyo, recently.Speaking on the occasion, Mr Durowoju, who was also the special guest of ho-nour, gave kudos to the club for organising a competition to showcase the talents in the youth of the area.According to him, 'organising comp-etitions which could showcase the talents in our youths will go a long way in impacting positively on the youth generally, and this subsequently will facilitate talents discovery in our society.'Durowoju also enjoined the youth to live exemplary lives and shun social vices as the future leaders of the nation.Earlier in his speech, the president of the club, Mr Shitu Nurudeen, disclosed that the club was a socio-cultural one aimed at developing the youth to face challenges in the future.He also thanked the community leaders for their commitment towards the cause of the club and promised that the club would not let them down.The competitions organised for the week included table tennis; won by Fatai Sairo, dancing, won by Joseph Isaac; football match, won by Oyo A.F.C, while football skills display was won by Ismail.The new executive members are Mr Azeez Lukman as life patron, Mrs D.O. Olaofe, Matron and Adeokun, Adviser.
