Jonathan callous, ready to cause anarchy, say TUC, NLC

Organised labour in the country yesterday described the New Year gift of fuel subsidy removal by the Presidency as callous, insensitive and intended to cause anarchy in the country, stressing that the tragic decision by the President Goodluck Jonathan-led government has become the greatest source of insecurity and danger to the Nigerian nation.Labour also called on the police, armed forces and other security personnel in the country not to accept any order to shoot Nigerians or attack them for publicly resisting the evil hike in fuel prices, warning that any officer who does so will be brought to justice, and any claim that he was obeying orders would not suffice as excuse for committing such crimes.The Labour movement made the declarations in a joint statement signed by the Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Owei Lakemfa and Secretary General of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade John Kolawole, after a joint meeting on the bomb blasts in the last few days, insecurity, and the astronomical fuel prices increase imposed on the populace.
