April electionsll be peacefulAjaja

Published by Tribune on Thu, 31 Mar 2011

A candidate into the House of Representatives for Ibadan North-East and Ibadan South-East federal constituency of Oyo State, Dr (Mrs) Abiola Ajaja, has expressed optimism that the 2011 general election, scheduled to start this weekend, will be peaceful.Ajaja, an educationist, who is contesting on the ticket of the Accord Party, said this in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune.I believe there is enough awareness of the elections and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been up and doing. I dont envisage any trouble this time. People are beginning to realise that only those who cannot win elections will resort to violence and we have gone beyond that stage in this country. You can only win if the people want you there. What we have seen, so far, in terms of violence was just to scare people from coming out to vote, but there is not going to be any problem, it will be well, said the proprietress of Beechford International School, Ibadan. She decried the incidence of thuggery which had characterised politics in the country in recent times. The truth of the matter is that there are politicians who depend solely on politics for survival, they can do anything to win, but no godly person will kill people because you want to win. We should stop politics of the thugs by the thugs for the elite, she added.
