Give Back on the runway

THERE had been palpable fears in the air about the event holding because of the Christmas Day bomb blasts in nearby Suleja.But when the Frank Majay Label's charity fashion show themed, Give Back, actually held on December 30 at the plush Oriental Express Chinese Restaurant, River Plate Park, on Ahmadu Bello Way Wuse 2, Abuja, it turned out a bright outing marked with the pleasure of discovery.THE show started at 5pm with a red carpet before the runway session came on. There were displays of epic and funky outfits that took African fabric to a whole new level.UK-based Nigerian artiste, Dotstar aka Lagosboi', spiced the evening with very thrilling performance.ON the social network, twitter, Nguvan Stephanie Tsegba, creator of the label, had promised thrills of this sort that will make eyes roll to the figures strutting the runway, 'even during these days, when Boko Haram makes nobody smile.'According to the 19-year-old, the label was created in 2009 to cater for needs of widows, orphans and old people.She said, 'this was one way she could make impact in the society.' The student of law and politics of Oxford Brookes University, England, explained that the show aimed to raise funds for them. Frank Majay is a combination of British and Nigerian designs and is "epic and funky" themed.
