Caleb varsity VC advocates national re-birth

Published by Guardian on Thu, 12 Jan 2012

TO find a lasting solution to the multifarious problems facing the nation, the Vice-Chancellor, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju, has called for a national re-birth as a panacea for development in the country.Olukoju, in a new year message, said that a national re-birth in the New Year would usher in new sets of values based on probity, tolerance, dialogue and respect for human lives, rather than the orgy of violence, destruction and insecurity that characterised much of 2011.The Vice-Chancellor confirmed that the management of Caleb University had been playing a leading role in fostering national re-birth in their students since inception of the university in 2007.One of such programmes aimed at fostering noble values in the students, according to him, was the CALEB Leadership Academy, where students of the university receive quality training in selfless service, teamwork, dignity of labour and respect for human lives. He urged all Nigerians to make 2012 a year of peace, progress and prosperity by exhibiting the values of the national re-birth ' probity, diligence, tolerance, and selflessness in all their activities.Commenting on the first set of graduates produced by the university, the Vice-Chancellor expressed strong optimism that they would distinguish themselves in their various places of primary assignment during their National Youth Service which commences in February, 2012.He added that the maiden Convocation Ceremony of Caleb University for the award of First Degrees and Honorary Degrees would come up on January 21, 2012.
