The Little Member (I)Memory Verse: But the tongue can no man tame. It is an unruly evil full of deadly poison. (James 3:8)Bible Passage: James 3: 6-12INTRODUCTION:At the point of conception, the embryo begins to divide itself rapidly, increasing its number of cells. Eventually, the cells begin to specialise and become root cells of different parts of the body' eyes, ears, liver, legs etc. Each organ is tailor-made for a specific function (1 Cor. 12:12-26). Some of the cells become the tongue. The bible describes this organ as a little member. Its small size belies its importance and power. May the Lord preserve your power of speech and taste.OUTLINES:No Man Can Tame The Tongue: Everything God created originally was perfect and very good (Genesis 1:31). But sin marred and destroyed all (Romans 3:23). The spirit of man became corrupted and depraved (Jeremiah 17:9). The heart of man became the source of evil thoughts (Matt.:15:18-19). Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. It became impossible to tame the tongue without renewal of the heart (Matt: 12:33-35) (Psalm 51:10) (Romans 12:2).The Holy Spirit Can Tame The Tongue: At the point of the New Birth, the whole essence of man is changed (2Cor. 5:17). He is no longer left to his own devices and neither does he live for himself (Galatians 2:20). He surrenders to God and a fresh process of growth by multiplication begins again as old things pass away (2Cor. 5:17).The process of renewal takes care of the tongue as well as many other members (Galatians 2:20) (Romans 6:10-19). He receives a new heart (Ezek. 36:28). He is sanctified wholly' body, soul and spirit (1 Thess. 5:23), and led by the spirit of God (Romans 8:14). He receives a new tongue (Acts 2:4). Isaiah was already an established prophet before his lips were completely renewed (Isa. 6: 5-7).Conclusion: A tamed tongue and the resultant different language is one of the most reliable signs of the New Birth (Acts:2:14). The tongue becomes sweet and seasoned (Ephesians 4:29). Are you saved' Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb, Has your language changed
