NEMADonates N50m Relief Materials To Boko Haram Victims

THE National Emergency Management Agency [NEMA] has donated reliefmaterials worth about N50m to victims of last week's bloody attack in parts of Adamawa State by suspected Boko Haram sect members.The attack left scores of people dead while thousands have taken refuge at the army barrack in Yola. NEMA's Director-General, Alhaji Mohammed Sani, commended Brigade Commander J.N Nwaogufor accommodating the displaced persons.Nwaogu heads 32Armoured Brigade, Yola.Sani, who was represented by the Assistant coordinator,NEMA Northeast Zone, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, cautioned politicians against making inflammatory statements that could disturb public peace.Commenting on behalf of the Brigade Commander,Logistics Officer, Lt. Col. Williams Oluwafemi, commended NEMA for the gesture, noting that the relief materials would reduce the sufferingsof the displaced persons.Oluwafemi said hundreds of residents troop into the barrack every night. Hedisclosed that several youth service corps members are among the displaced, warning that if the situation is not contained, facilities in the barrack could soon be strained beyond capacity.Items donated include rice, sugar, beverages, buckets, utensils, blankets and mats.
