Hajiya Salamatu Mai Gurmi, also known as Salamatu Autan Gurmi is a female singer who plays the local stringed musical instrument called Gurmi. Even though she is married with four children, she frequents occasions, including political functions, to play traditional praise music. She was born in Hadejia, in a village called Adaraushe and even though shes not sure about her actual age, she recalls that she was married off at age twelve during late Governor Abubakar Rimis tenure in Kano State.
