Police arrest suspected gun-runners in Delta

A 30-year-old police officer, Mr. Eze Ifeanyi and a businessman, Mr. Beni Buwari and one Raphael Anthony have been arrested in connection with gun-running by the police in Delta State. They were arrested Wednesday in Patani, a border town between Bayelsa and Delta State and detained at the Police Headquarters in Asaba. According to Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Charles Muka who released their names yesterday in Asaba, Buwari admitted ownership of some ammunition while the police officer was employed as his escort to convey arms. They had driven in a Kia Rio car fully loaded with guns, explosives and marked XB 184 BRS Bayelsa and covered in the campaign posters of one of the South-South governors.
