Nigeria's economy in slow start with N60b gain

Economic activities resumed yesterday on a crawling note, hours after the nationwide strike was called off.The shut-down-the-nation protest had caused the economy a whopping loss estimated at N1.6 trillion.With about 342 million shares traded during the period while the eight-day strike lasted, the Stock market recorded a turnover of 308.8 million shares, worth N3.64 billion in 1,217 deals last week in contrast to a total of 1.05 billion shares valued at N5.5 billion exchanged in the previous week in 10,037 deals. Analysts put the loss of the market to the strikes at over N10 billion.
