Adeboye urges leaders to seek divine guidance

Published by Tribune on Thu, 19 Jan 2012

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged Nigerian leaders to seek divine guidance in order to fast track the nation's development.Adeboye made the call at a two-day forum organised by the Redeemed Christian Family Fellowship of the University of Ibadan.According to the cleric, astute leaders would always seek the help of God in the course of ensuring good governance. He said: 'According to the Book of Proverbs 21:1, the king's heart is in the hand of the Lord; He directs it like a watercourse wherever He pleases.'This passage tells us that we do not literally own the life we live and this makes us accountable to the Creator. He graciously grants our good desires if we humbly look up to Him for help.'Another passage supporting this is found in John 14:14, which says, you may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.'Our leaders' intentions are good, but they need God's backing,' he said.Adeboye also advised Nigerians to pray for their leaders, adding that they should keep hope alive in this period of national transformation.'Psalms 30:5b says weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. Let us look unto God for He shall lead us all the way and make us sing a new song.'All the problems we may encounter shall not overtake us, rather they have been ordained to refine us and make us better.'The cleansing has begun and there is no going back. Nigerians shall sing a new song amidst the trials. Pray without ceasing, especially for the nation and our leaders,' he said. The programme was organised to offer prayers to God for the nation.
