Lagos to inaugurate sports associations

LAGOS State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Wahid Oshodi, has said the recently constituted 36 sports associations in the state would be inaugurated tomorrow at the Molade Okoya Thomas Sports Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.The sports associations, which were reconstituted in December last year, would kick start the build-up to the 18th National Sports Festival (NSF) to be hosted in November in the state. The associations are to organise competitions and tournaments for the budding talents that abound in the state.According to Oshodi, his office will keep tab on the associations' performance with an appraisal carried out every six months. He adding: 'We will definitely be changing members as we go along.'Each sport association would be issued guidelines on the effective running of the association in order to realise maximum result for the various budding talents that abound. The athletes will be the focus in this new dispensation.
