Premier League Table: Latest 2015 EPL Standings and Predictions for Matchday 36

Published by Bleacher Report on Tue, 05 May 2015

Newly crowned Premier League champions Chelsea will host Liverpool on Matchday 36 of the 2014-15 season, as the Reds look to push themselves up the standings in the race for the final Champions League ticket.Liverpool sit four points behind Manchester United with three matches left on the schedule and are in dire need of a win, but things won't come easy against the Blues. Jose Mourinho's troops may have little left to play for, but you can be sure they'll try to treat their home fans to a show on Sunday.United will travel to London to take on Crystal Palace, while Tottenham Hotspur visit Stoke City. Manchester City host Queens Park Rangers on Sunday, and Arsenal will play Swansea City on Monday. Here is how the standings look after Week 35:Here's the schedule for Week 36, complete with predictions: The Race for EuropeThe Premier League title race is over, and the focus will now shift to the battle for the final European slots and the team fighting against relegation. The Reds will play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and need a win in the worst way, or their chase of Manchester United could be over for good.As reported by the Liverpool Echo, the club plans to honour the tradition of giving the new champions a guard of honourlikely the only time the Reds will do anything but try to crush the Blues:Simply put, Brendan Rodgers' men have to win. If United beat Crystal Palace, the gap between the two clubs will be seven points. And given the discrepancy in goal differential between the two, even a draw would all but end Liverpool's chances of catching the Red Devils. The situation may look dire, but Rodgers refuses to give up, per the club's official Twitter account:United have lost three in a row, and while they'll be favoured to beat Crystal Palace, the Mancunians will still enter the match feeling very uneasy. After all, Selhurst Park is where Liverpool's title dreams were shattered last season, and Palace would love to claim a victory against yet another giant of English football.Arsenal and City both face clubs they should beat comfortably, and in doing so, they should lock up their spots in next year's Champions League.Further down the standings, Spurs face a difficult trip to Stoke, and Southampton play in-form Leicester City, two challenging fixtures that will play a big role in the race for the Europa League. The good news for these clubs is the fact Arsenal will be playing the FA Cup Final. If the Gunners beat Aston Villa, the final Europa League ticket will revert to the Premier League's seventh-placed team and not Villa, unlike previous years. The Battle Against RelegationIt looks as if the race to avoid the drop will once again come down to the final matchday, with the bulk of the clubs in or near the relegation zone finding their stride at just the right time, per Bleacher Report UK:Aston Villa will host West Ham United, while Leicester City play the Saints. Both clubs have been in strong form lately but can't afford to drop any points at home against strong opposition.Meanwhile, Burnley visit Hull City, and their bid to stay in the Premier League appears over, per BBC Sport:QPR visit Manchester City, while Sunderland travel to Liverpool to take on Everton. Slumping Newcastle United wil go head-to-head with West Bromwich Albion.Follow @ReverschPassRead more World Football news on BleacherReport.com
