Zambian coach blasts referee over pitch condition

THIS was kick and rush, it wasn't football, Zambia coach Herve Renard described his team's 2-2 draw against Libya.A 30 minutes tropical storm turned the Estadio de Bata pitch into a swamp leading to the Zambia-Libya game to suffer an hour-long delay as groundsmen drained the pitch with brooms.The Frenchman also blasted Mali referee Koman Coulibay for certifying the waterlogged pitch playable."Can you imagine there are three more game coming on this pitch one of them (Equatorial Guinea - Senegal) just after our game," Renard said."It was kick and rush it was not football."Libya will face Senegal on the same pitch in their final Group A match on Sunday.The ball could barely roll five metres, frustrating Zambia's passing game as pragmatic Libya pressed in search of the points to keep them in the competition."I am very disappointed the referee allowed this game to be played because I don't believe any team was able to play on this pitch it was not a good afternoon," Renard said."We were not good playing in these very difficult conditions but I am proud of my team who came back twice to score."
