QPR banks on Nigerian stars for survival

Published by Tribune on Fri, 27 Jan 2012

ENGLISH Premiership club, Queens Park Rangers believe the duo of Nigerian defenders Taye Taiwo and Nedum Onuoha and the capture of Victor Moses can help the team from drop from the top flight.Rangers are two points and two places above the relegation zone in the English Premiership but team coach, Mark Hughes believes both Taiwo and Onuoha can help tighten loose ends.Four days ago, Hughes beamed with smiles as he secured Taiwo from AC Milan on a six-month loan and just yesterday, he got Onuoha as another re-inforcement. Meanwhile, he hopes he can land Wigan Athletic striker, Victor Moses at Loftus Road.He was particularly delighted by Onuoha, who signed a four and a half years contract after enduring difficult spells at Man City under Italian trainer, Roberto Mancini.Hughes however hopes the multi-functional defender will hit the mark with Rangers.''Onuoha 'did very well for me at Manchester City and played a number of games, probably more than under any other manager,' said Hughes. ''Onuoha is very versatile. He can play center back or right back, and has good pace. He is a very good addition to the squad.'QPR is unrelenting on its pursuit of Moses to bolster its attacking options and negotiations have reached advanced stage.
