Boko Haram threat: Security agencies on alert in Kogi

THE various security agencies in Kogi State are in the state are anxious over an alleged threat from the Boko Haram sect to bomb the state police command.Sources close to the command disclosed to the Nigerian Trirbune that the command received a threat letter from the sect, last week, of their intension to bomb the command.As a result of the threat letter, all entries leading to the state police command, the office of the State Security Service (SSS), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have been blocked by the security agencies.Armed men have been stationed in all strategic places where police command, SSS, Central Bank and Zone 8 police command were located and also at the state High Court.Investigation conducted by the Nigerian Tribune revealed that one of the wanted suspects, who happened to be a member of the Boko Haram sect, was allegedly arrested at Bassa, Bassa Local Government Area of the state.Sources close to the police command further mentioned that the suspect was one of the members that allegedly freed Mallam Kabiru Sokoto at Abaji when he was in the police custody.According to the sources, the suspect was immediately transferred to Abuja for further investigation.Also, residents of Lokoja are now living in fears, as the news of possible attacks by the sect was peddled onThursday.Most schools in the state capital also remained closed for fear of being attacked.A head mistress in one of the private schools disclosed to our correspondent that she was forced to close herschool for fear of possible attack.'As you can see, we are sending the children home. The rumour of the attack is very strong. We do not want to take any chance. We are watching the situation,' she said.The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Mr Ajayi Okasanmi, in his reaction, disclosed to newsmen that it was all rumour, and ruled out any possible attack on the city.
