Fuel subsidy removal: Niger govt to repair damaged property

The Niger State Government has said that it will undertake the repair of some of the public property destroyed during the recent disturbance in the capital city of Minna.Public property including the Murtala Amusement Park, the Magatarkada and Democracy gardens, the Board of Internal Revenue, Independent National Electoral Commission headquarters, were destroyed during the mayhem.Government has already set up a committee to ascertain the extent and exact cost of the damages.Governor Aliyu told members of the Senior Course 36, Syndicate 6 of the Command and Staff College, Jaji, who paid him a courtesy call at Government House, that areas where youths disallowed the protesters from doing damage to public property will be given attention in the installation of large viewing screens.Dr Aliyu added that for the screens destroyed, government will get an undertaken from the communities concerned that they would protect them when replaced.Aliyu thanked men of the Nigeria Armed Forces for the 'wonderful response made and assistance rendered during the fuel subsidy riot'.
