ISL, Laurel clash in Doregos basketball championship quarters

DEFENDING champion of Doregos Inter-School Basketball Competition, International School, Lagos (ISL), will tackle Laurel School in one of the quarter-final matches of this year's edition today.Also, host team ' Doregos - will confront Dansol, while Avi Cenna will face Ronik. The last quarter-final encounter will have Chrisland square up against Solomon Grace School. The tourney was initiated by the proprietress of Doregos Private Academy, Clementina Doregos, with the aim of encouraging youths to dissipate their energy in meaningful activities.According to the Principal of Doregos, Johnson Adebayo, the tourney has continued to grow each year with more schools participating in the event. He noted: 'The purpose of the championship is to encourage youths to put their energy in sports, which we believe will aid them in their academics and also boost their health.'We are hoping that more teams will continue to be part of it. For this year, new trophy will be unveiled for the championship and we wish all the teams luck and hope they will eschew violence and exhibit sportsmanship throughout the event.
