Alao-Akala: Mystery of a divine call

Published by Tribune on Mon, 04 Apr 2011

Mystery connotes the movement of the unseen forces behind the scene. It is the manifestation of the supernatural in situations and circumstances that are far beyond the comprehension of man.The effects of the supernatural are glaringly visible or felt, but the forces behind these occurrences become a mirage or a subject of eternally unresolved investigation. This, no doubt, is the act of the omnipotent God proving Himself mighty and unquestionable in the midst of His people. How can one reasonably explain the surging and roaring of the mighty ocean which, all through ages, never overstepped its bound The same is true of the wind that blows where it listeth. We hear the sound thereof, but cannot tell where it is coming from or whither it goes - John 3: 18. Such can reasonably explain the mysterious power of God. God has kept away answers to all these mysteries from us so that men should fear Him.So, it is with Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, whose life is shrouded in mystery like a few others in the world. His rising profile begs for answers, which can only be unravelled by Him that keeps the diary of his destiny and who reveals Himself through His word i.e. The Almighty God.The Bible says in I Corinthians 1 :27-28 that God chooses the weak things of the world to confound the mighty and foolish things to confound the wise. The enthronement of Chief Alao-Akala could be likened to that of King David - the shepherd boy, who was the least of his brethren, and always in the bush to tend his fathers (Jesse) flock. When the time to choose a king for Gods people came, the hand of the Lord came upon Samuel, directing him not to look at the qualification of men but the one approved of God. The rich and the mighty among Jesses children were all dropped in favour of the young David. He was called out of the bush and anointed as the king of Israel.Every enthronement is of God, if we must admit the fact. The Bible says in I Sam. 1:7-8, the Lord maketh poor and maketh rich, He bringeth low and lifteth up, He raiseth up the poor out of the dust and lifted up the needy from the dung hill; to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of grace. If we can for once accept this truth that God created men to fulfil  His (God) own agenda here on earth, and which, of course, is revealed to no man until such agenda begin to unfold,  our involvement in the choice of who becomes what per time, will be tension-free and less burdensome. While men look at the face and empty political promises of their fellow beings, God, in His own wisdom, looks at the heart of commitment of people that He (God) raises up to execute His own agenda of bringing judgement upon the earth either to bless the people or to reward them for their sins.In other words, the choice of the Lord is supreme in the race for kingship and it is rooted in His objectivity per time. Let me humble our Christian brothers with this scripture I Sam.2:3, talk no more exceeding proudly, let no arrogancy proceed out of your mouth, for God is a God of knowledge, and by Him, all actions are weighed.Have we gone on our knees to seek His face on His choice instead of beating about the bush and taking sides with self-seeking and self-centred politicians God can never make mistake. It is, therefore, incumbent upon men to submit to the supreme will of our creator, who only knows the end from the beginning.Such is the case of Chief Alao-Akala. When his time of enthronement was up in the agenda of God, the hand of the Lord came upon High Chief Lamidi Adedibu of blessed memory to break all norms and protocols, as he would stop at nothing under the influence of heavenly forces to do Gods bidding.Imagine all the political juggernauts  in Ibadan, none could satisfy the qualification that God required of the one to execute His agenda. The only one found pleasing to Him (God) was Chief Alao-Akala, faraway in Ogbomoso. This is the mystery of God - the unseen behind the scene.God chooses leaders to give expression to His mood towards His people per time. No wonder, God in His infinite mercy, positioned Chief Alao-Akala as the Governor of Oyo State in a time like this, to overhaul all the decayed infrastructure of historical significance like the old Mapo Hall in Ibadan, Adeoyo Hospital, Atiba Hall in Oyo town etc.; coupled with the dualisation of some ancient roads to ease the movement of the people of the state. The only wise God knows when to change the status quo so that His people do not remain in bondage forever. Could it have been Pa Adedibus wish to rise against his own people and dare the king of the land to whom he owed traditional allegiance, in order to anoint Chief Alao-Akala faraway in Ogbomoso - breaking the zoning formula of his party without any repentanceHowever, the truth of the matter is that when God partners with an ordinary mortal, the mortal man becomes extraordinary, invincible and too mighty to dare. Anyone on divine assignment could never suffer defeat nor be put to shame as he enjoys divine backing. In that circumstance, it is the Almighty God, in the likeness of man, that is at work and not the physical man that appears on the outside.Any attempt to dethrone such a man demands overpowering the God that dwells in him first, if that is achievable. Small wonder, on his arrival at the scene in 2007, God  gave him a name Alao-Akala nbo, ko se ni to le ba a jagun, ko si seni to le ko lu u - meaning that the man is unconquerable by any mortal man. And that is the mystery behind-Akalas myth. The people of Oyo State are lucky to have in their lifetime - a man appointed of God as a captain over them. His extraordinary performance in the last three years attests to the grace of God upon his life. The intractable refuse problem that had long bedevilled Ibadan and had defied solution in the hands of our past leaders has now become a thing of the past. Many key roads have been daulised and adorned with street lights to give the state capital a befitting colouration. Infrastrutures are well shared out to other towns attest to the fact that a caring leader is on the throne. It is expedient to say, without mincing words, that anyone under the intoxicating influence of the saving grace and ability of the Father, enjoys all it takes to succeed in life. In His righteous judgement, God said in Rm. 9:14. It is not of him that runneth or of him that willeth, but of God that shows mercy. In other words, God places His oil of mercy upon anyone that pleases Him per time, as His choice is always the best at any point in time. Our refusal and hard-heartedness to submit to the supreme will of the Father is the reason for our confusion that usually brings us into situation of suffering,  deprivation, chaos and unmitigated disaster. It is time we forsake our own way and allow God to have His way. It is time we stop playing politics with issues of life. Every issue of life is rooted in the spirit, and it is the spiritual that controls the physical. It is time we recognise Gods appointment and do away with our own ambition. It is time we go back to the root and ask the oracle (God) to speak (as of the time of our fathers). The reign of His chosen always brings peace, progress, prosperity, and an end to all life frustrations, as we are all witnessing in the era of Chief Alao-Akala.Goodluck Jonathans emergence as the nations president is also undoubtedly an act of God.Chief Alao-Akalas governorship is undoubtedly an act of God. He is Gods instrument to move Oyo State forward according to Gods agenda.Let us join hands with him as God (Himself) has announced him as His chosen for a second term in office. The oracle has spoken.Aremu wrote in from Ogbomoso  (08027049701).
