Oyo Reps re-run poll: Akinjide foils ACN's rigging plans, as PDP leads

Saturday's arrest of over 100 thugs at the re-run election in Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency in which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr Jimoh Hafeez Adelowo, had led with about 16,000 votes to about 2,000 of Lanre Agoro of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) might not have been possible without the political prowess of the Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Ms Olajumoke Akinjide, Nigerian Compass has learnt.Reports had it that Akinjide checkmated efforts by the ruling ACN to 'disrupt' the poll with thugs, leading to the arrest and detention in Saki of the thugs by soldiers, who found in their possession rifles of various brands.According to a reliable source, the Minister committed a lot of financial resource to the prosecution of the rerun and had vowed she would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the PDP regains victory in the state.
