FG to re-post permanent secretaries

In a bid to reposition the machinery of the government, the Federal Government has commenced a review of the performance of permanent secretaries as a prelude to their re-posting in due course.Nigerian Tribune reliably gathered that the office of the Head of Service of the Federation received a directive recently to effect a review and consequent re-posting as a result of recent challenges.Former Head of Service, Professor Oladapo Afolabi, had reshuffled the postings of the permanent secretaries a few days before his retirement from service, which is maintained by his successor, Alhaji Isa Bello Sali.It was learnt that Sali, while retaining the inherited posting, had since embarked on as an sessment of the permanent secretaries to block loopholes and reposition the public service to deliver on the administration's transformation agenda.Criteria being used for the reshuffling include permanent secretaries' rapports with ministers, competency on the job, implementation of service reforms, loyalty and commitment to the implementation of the transformation agenda.This development has put the top echelon of the service on anxiety, as some permanent secretaries have embarked on intense lobbying to secure better postings or retain existing postings.A top bureaucrat confided in the Nigerian Tribune by stating that 'the review is on and the re-posting will soon be announced.
