Osogbo residents laud Faramade on community projects

Community leaders, civil servants and the residents of Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State, have commended its Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr Isiaka Faramade and his team, for various community projects executed by his administration.The residents reinstated their confidence in the administration while the council Supervising Councilor for Works, Mr Afolabi Ilufoye, conducted journalists round the 15 wards to inspect the ongoing projects and the completed ones.Among the numerous project executed were the renovation of health care centre at Odi Olowo, Osogbo, in partnership with Wolinting City International from USA 28 hand pumps boreholes across the council area.The council has equally completed the drainage of Adunmu ' Oke Okanla road with the rehabilitation of the road to the tearing stage. The road was hindering traffic flow in the past, according to Alhaji Rasheed Oyedele, a resident of the area.He appealed to the council to complete the project before the rainy season so as not to worsen the situation.Other ongoing projects were the expansion of Akepe River Bridge, Oke-Baale which has almost cut the road into two; and the rehabilitation of Abesu road which the residents recalled 'was like a water dam in the past.'Mr Ibraheem Ayodele, Vice Chairman of Akepe community and Mr Najeem Aderibigbe of Oke-Abesu, both commended the council for the projects, saying the pervious governments had ignored their appeals to reconstruct bridges which usually constituted problem when there was a heavy down pour.In the health sector, the council has constructed and equipped a primary health centre, Ajenisua, awaiting commissioning; built tuberculosis control unit laboratory for Oke Bale Maternity Centre in partnership with Damien Foundation.Mr Akinyeyo Busayo who unveiled the equipments at the laboratory, said the facilities were of great assistance to the hospital which has reduced its reliance on teaching hospitals before determining the tuberculosis status of the patients.In Irepodun, Ataoja Ward 1, the council also constructed a 1000 capacity community hall, and some rural electrification projects in Surulere, Oke Ijetu, Osogbo, Isale Alfa, Owode .Secretary, Irepodun community, Mr Adebayo Akanmu, while speaking to Community News, commended the council caretaker committee for the facilities in the hall which he said would enhance the social activities in the community and allow them to have more access to information on government activities with the cable networks. The community appealed to the council to expand the bridge on the road leading to Osogbo Farm Settlement which is already flooding.Speaking after the inspection, at the council secretariat, the Chairman, Mr Isiaka Faramade, in company of the Head of Local Government Administration, Barrister Babalola and other supervising councilors, said most projects were done through direct labour within the range of N2 million per project.He said the council had applied to the Ministry of Local Government for the approval of other projects which exceeded N2 million that he could approve in line with the law regulating the operations of the caretaker committee.The chairman appealed to the communities who were beneficiaries of the projects to assist the council in the management and maintenance of the projects to be useful for a longer period.
