Resolution of tenure elongation puzzle

The Supreme Court, on January 27, laid to rest the raging controversy on the tenure of state governors who were re-elected into office following the annulment of their initial April 2007 election by election petitions tribunals and Court of Appeal. The justices, in a unanimous decision, ruled that the four-year tenure of the governors began on May 28, 2007 when they took their first oaths of office and ended exactly four years after on May 29, 2011.
