Awo Foundation House dedicated in Lagos

The wife of the sage, Yeyeoba Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, on Wednesday in Lagos, led other dignitaries in the dedication of Phase 1, Obafemi Awolowo Foundation House, Gbagada Phase 11, Somolu Local Government Area of the state.Dignitaries present at the event were the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade; General Yakubu Gowon; Reverend (Mrs) Tola Oyediran; the Executive Director, Obafemi Awolowo Foundation, Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo Dosumu; Pastor G.O. Olutola; Reverend (Dr) P.A. Adebiyi; Right Reverend (Dr) M.O. Fape and Venerable F.O. Babatunji.Others were Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Chief Olaniwun Ajayi, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, Senator Anthony Adefuye, Alakenne of Ikenne, Oba Adeyinka Onokade; Professor Akinkugbe, Senator Olabiyi Durojaye and a host of others.Dedicating the project to the glory of God and the use of the Foundation, Dr Awolowo Dosumu said it was in line with the vision of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, aimed at impacting on the lives of the down- trodden.While attributing the success of the Foundation to the goodness of God, Dr Awolowo Dosumu buttressed her assertion, when she read from Luke, Chapter 6 verses 46-49: 'Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say' I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock, when flood came, the torrent struck that house and could not shake it because it was well built.' On whether the Foundation had experienced setbacks since its inauguration 20 years ago, the executive director said it had not experienced any setback because God had been the pillar.She said she could not say offhand the number of people that had benefited from the Foundation, but stated that it had impacted on a sizeable number of people, in terms of bursary award, impartation of knowledge through lectures and seminars.With the dedication , the Foundation, according to her, would now swing into full operation in line with the vision of Chief Awolowo.Unfolding the Foundation's programme of event for the year, Dr Awolowo Dosumu said it was planning to organise seminars and lectures on topical issues, adding that resource persons would be sourced from various disciplines.
