Traditionalist advocates adoption of traditional oath for political office holders

The Aare Ogboni of Osun State,Oba Adetoyese Olakisan, has opined that, traditional oath-taking be adopted for political office holders as this alone can curb the corruption menace which has eaten deep into the fabrics of the nation.Oba Olakitan made the suggestion at the weekend in Imesi-Ile during this year celebration of Isese Odun Iya festival.It was celebration galore as the people from all walks of life gathered at the ancient town e to celebrate Isese Odun Iya Festival.Isese Odun Iya is an annual festival celebrated by Aare Ogboni of Osun State, Oba Adetoyese Olakisan, to appreciate the goodness of the gods and offer prayers for peace and stability in the land.This year's festival was unique as it encompassed series of programmes that fostered unity among traditional institutions, while prayers were offered for the government of Mr Rauf Aregbesola and President Goodluck Jonathan respectively.The three-day event started with traditional dances round the town of Imesi-Ile, visits to Kiriji Shrine, Iwure (traditional prayer) and concluded with an open crusade at the Palace Square of Owa Ooye of Imesi-Ile, Oba Enoch Ademola Akinyemi.Speaking at the grand finale, Aare Ogboni of Osun State, Oba Adetoyese Olakisan said, unless the nation went back to tradition, the country might not know peace, maintaining that, the calamities befalling Nigeria was as a result of neglect of 'our fore-fathers ways and ideologies', stressing that, 'if Nigeria did not go back to tradition, things would continue to fall apart.'The Aare Ogboni stressed that, Nigeria was blessed with rich cultural values and norms, adding that, 'the white men cherished our culture which we do not value.'The frontline traditionalist, however, enjoined traditionalists to shun dishonesty and always follow the path of truth. He also urged politicians to fulfill all the promises made to the people during their electioneering campaign.
