Finalists emerge in district six, state holds finals draws

AFTER stiff competition among the teams in District Six finals of the Lagos Guaranty Trust Bank Principal's Cup, four schools have berthed in the state finals, which draws hold today.Arch Bishop Aggey Memorial School hosted the District Six matches with Igbo Owu Senior Secondary School and An-sar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive Senior High School emerging the representatives in the girls' event while Ejigbo Senior High School and Ilupeju Senior Secondary School will hoist the districts flag in the boys' division.The teams came top in all the matches played as they played one another to determine the finalists. According to a member of the district's local organizing committee (LOC), Oluwaseun Awojumobi, the teams gave good account of themselves while the round robin format adopted in the district brought out the best in them.According to the district co-ordinator, Kehinde Odufejo, the best teams will represent the district this year: 'We had adopted the best format, which is round robin, and this allowed all the teams to play themselves while the teams with the highest points emerged the flagbearers of the district. I am confident that these teams will make the district proud.'For the skipper of An-sar-Ud-Deen girls, Lateefat Fayomi, being the school's first time in the state finals, they hope to do well and as most of the players will continue to train in readiness for the finals.
