Court stops Ekiti council polls

AN Ado-Ekiti High Court presided over by Justice John Adeyeye yesterday halted tomorrow's local government elections in Ekiti State.It also granted a perpetual injunction restraining five of the seven members of the State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC) from taking part in the conduct and organisation of the polls.The decision of the court was consequent upon a suit filed by the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its State Chairman, Chief Bola Olu-Ojo, challenging the propriety of the five members sitting on board of the commission having claimed to be card-carrying members of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP).
