HAVE you wondered why, in church, everything seems to work, while, outside of the church, things appear to fail, even in the life of the most devout member'It is because those guys on the pulpit of theself-christened 'altar of God' brainwash you to give the church the best of your time and service as they fleece you in the name of God. If the pastor wants to build a church or undertake a special project, he calls for 10 people in the congregation. About 50 eventually get up so they don't miss the 'blessing' of 'giving to God's cause'. That church gets built or the special project gets done.Don't you believe, for instance, that if the same pastor asks 10 members of his congregation to donate to the cause of building a farm to feed members of the church and its immediate neighbourhood, it will get done'Yet, while members of the congregation go hungry, some of these filthy rich pastors ride more than two jets. Even Jonathan will be queried if he ridesmore than one.Look at Boko Haram and the police. If one of these 'men of God' with branches in virtually every neighbourhood across the federation would ask each parish to request 5-10 policemen in their areas and ask 10 or more members of the congregation to see to the welfare of these officers so they can protect, not only the church, but its immediate community, don't you think that area would be safe' The policeman will realise that he is not only working for man but also to protect his children. I bet that no amount of bribery would buy his conscience. This is because the officer knows his children's education is guaranteed. His shelter is assured. His salary is assured. He would work with all his strength. And you know that when the police want to work they do it well, because they know the criminals and their hideouts. After all, they win laurels for the country in international missions.Look at education. Which of the so-called 'men of God' stepped out in defense of the Academic Staff Union of Universities or our poor children in public schools' They will not do so because they smile to the banks everyday on the fat school fees you pay for your children's education. This should not be. They collect money from the poor in their churches and use same sweat and resources to build these schools. And at the end of the day, none of the children of the poor or those whose resources they used to build these unholy schools ever enter any of the institutions. If banks or breweries decide to build schools and throw the doors open to anyone who can afford the exorbitant fees, no one would query them because they are out to make profit. But when you use the name of God to extort money from your congregation and coerce them to spend their resources to build schools, which you, in turn, convert into a private secondary school or university, then you are a thief. If truly, these things are for God and you truly serve the true God, you will know that when you throw the gate of God's school open to anyone who pays your exorbitant school fees, it is the devil's children you have built such school for because only the devil can afford your prohibitive fees.Look at the fuel strike. With the exception of Tunde Bakare, I didn't see any prominent 'man of God' show up or speak up in defense of the helpless masses that spend their hard-earned sweat on these pulpit professionals. If any of them is to ask 10 or more of his members to get up, not to spend money, but share their knowledge with the petroleum industry or the power sector; if he is to mandate them to come up with feasible options for functioning refineries or power generating alternatives within nine months, you and I know that it would be done. Even where the pastor asks his congregation to donate towards funding a samplemodel to convince government that the model will work, the congregation will gladly do it.Do you know why they will not do it' Most of the criminals, in high places, who make sure these things don't work, send in fat tithes and offerings, enough to turn five states in Nigeria into another Dubai.Do not be a fool. Do not allow yourself to be deceived into permanent docility with the bible quotation: 'touch not my anointed...' Yes. It is true God said those words, but not for thieves and 419ners who use His Holy name to extort money from us.The only Man of God that I have seen in my generation, so far, is Martin Luther King, and we are all witnesses to his immortality. We all know what he did to the United States of America and Americans. Today, because of his role, decades ago, Barack Obama, a black man, is president of the most powerful country in theworld. Can you say the same of pulpit professionals in Nigeria'It is time for these men to wake up to divine duties they signed for or prepare to tell their congregation how they spend their money, and the owner of all the properties they have used money of the poor to amass.Only God will rescue us.
