Early morning inferno razes 7 shops in Lafiagi

An early morning fire incident that occurred on Sunday at the rural community of Lafiagi in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, has left on its trail losses running to millions of naira.It was gathered that the incident affected seven shops where properties worth millions of naira were destroyed, while its cause was yet unknown.However, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has commiserated with the people of Lafiagi over the incident.Addressing the affected people, the Special Adviser on Emergency and Relief Services, Alhaji Musa Abdullah, said the state government was touched by the incident and urged them to see it as an act of God.The Special Adviser said the governor, Alhaji Abdul Fatah Ahmed, has directed him to pay a sympathy visit to the scene of the incident and assess the level of damage with a view of providing succour to the affected people.Alhaji Musa Abdullah assured them of government's prompt intervention in order to make life more meaningful to the people.He advised them to guard against the reoccurrence of such incident.Conducting the Special Adviser round, the Chairman of Edu Local Government Council, Alhaji Abubakar Sayidiappreciated the prompt intervention of the state government which he said has demonstrated its concern to the people of the area.The chairman who was represented by his Vice, Alhaji Muhammed Dede Muhammed, urged the state government to come to the aid of the affected people, stressing that the local government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility.In his remark, the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Sa'adu Kawu Haliru, represented by Tsowa of Lafiagi, Alhaji Jubril Baba, thanked the state government for the condolence visit, pointing out that his visit has demonstrated his love for the people.He prayed God to continue to give him good health and divine wisdom in piloting the affairs of the State.
