Katsina releases grains for sale

Katsina State government has released 3, 000 tonnes of grains for sale at 50 per cent discount to the public.The measure is aimed at alleviating the suffering of the people in view of high price of food stuff in the market.Launching the sales of the grains at Kaita recently, Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema reaffirmed his administration's commitment to improve lives of the people.Governor Shema said that the grains was released from government reserved silos for sale to the general public in view of the prevailing economic situation.He said the state government had set up a committee to ensure smooth sales of the grains and reach all nooks and crannies of the state.Shema said the committee was directed to ensure that women were considered during the sales of the grains.He, however, appealed to the people to cooperate with the committee for the successful sales of the grains.Earlier, the chairman, committee for distribution and sales of the grains, Abdullahi Faskari, pledged to uphold the confidence reposed on them towards discharging the committee's assignment.Faskari, who is also the deputy governor of the state, called on the members of the committee to fear God in the discharge of their assignment.In a vote of thanks, Director Administration of Kaita Local Government, commended government for the release of the grains to the public.
