Shift of congress eases tension in PDP

FOLLOWING the announcement by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) postponing the congresses of the party earlier scheduled to start last Saturday, the move may have put to rest the bitter struggles in many state chapters over the control of the party executives.Before the announcement, which took many party faithful unawares, there had been bitter struggles among party members in many states over the control of the party.The congresses were supposed to be conducted at ward, local government, state and national levels. In Ogun State, for example there are three factions, those of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator Jubril Martins Kuye and Buruji Kashamu, all contending for the soul of the party.Before the announcement, there were many legal battles between the various factions at both the states and Federal High Courts in different States.
