Botched NASS election: PDP, ACN trade blames in Edo

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday, called for the arrest and prosecution of the Mr Pally Iriase, the candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) for the House of Representatives in the state.Iriase, the immediate past Secretary to Edo State Government (SSG), was contesting the seat for Owan federal constituency.The Owan East chairman of the PDP, Mr Jimmy Idahosa, at a news conference in Ivbiaro, near Afuze in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo, alleged that Iriase had armed youths to cause mayhem during the botched National Assembly election on Saturday.Idahosa, also at the news conference, accused Governor Adams Oshiom-hole ofcolluding with Iriase toallegedly armsuspected thugs on election day.Reacting to the allegation, Iriase, while making denial, said it was only a ploy by the PDP to divert the peoples attention from what its true intentions were.He said his aspiration to any office in the landwould not necessitate his resolve to engage the services of thugs in order to win.Iriase said his opponents were afraid of his growing popularity among the people, adding that they had, until now, been boasting of federal might.
