Nnewi community has N20bn road reconstruction work going on

Anambra State government under Governor Peter Obi has completed various roads in Nnewi while others are ongoing to the sum of N20 billion, out of which N13billion has been paid.This was disclosed by Governor Obi during the flag-off of the Afor Nnobi, Nkwo Nnewi roundabout. The 5.4kilometer road awarded to IDC Construction Company, will be completed within sixmonths.Governor Obi, in his speech said the contractor was fully mobilised and that when completed, the road would join Agulu-Nnewi road.The governor also explained that the government had equally completed many projects in other sectors, including education, health and water supply, while the town is on top priority of the nation's power project, because of its importance in the country.The member, representing Nnewi South, North and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chris Azubogu, said the people of the area would forever remain grateful to the governor for his care, respect and honour for the late Ezeigbo Gburugburu, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu,throughout his ailing days.He expressed satisfaction that Governor Obi was striving to give the people purposeful and dedicated leadership as nobody had done in the past.The Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwudi Orizu, noted that Anambra State under Governor Peter Obi has become a reference point in the delivery of democracy dividends across the country and beyond.He said the on-going infrastructural development in Nnewi was a testimony of the governor's commitment to take the state to a higher level.He also thanked the governor for championing the course of giving the late Ikemba a befitting burial.The Commissioner for Works, Sir Callistus Ilozumba, said Governor Obi's administration had awarded 226.869 kilometers of roads in Nnewi out of which 142 kilometers had been completed and asphalted.He disclosed that Governor Obi has equally released more money to fast track the completion of Orizu road before the burial of Dim Ojukwu, while more roads will be completed before the end of the dry season.
