The Golden State Warriors are NBA champions for the first time since 1975 by defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers in six games.The Warriors held a 15-point lead going into the fourth quarter and were able to withstand one last Cleveland barrage to lift the Larry O'Brien Trophy.Steph Curry had 25 points, including a pair of threes down the stretch to help put the game out of reach. Some of his peers could not help but admire his game, like Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio.As time wound down and the realization that LeBron James was not going to bring a championship to Cleveland this year set in, ESPN's J.A. Adande began to see the depression kicking in at the Quicken Loans Arena.Even opposing coaches were able to take a moment to reflect on a hard-fought series, according to NBA TV's Tas Melas.But a celebration was about to commence on the visitors bench as the clock hit zero, crowing the Warriors as NBA champions.Across the country, fans at Oracle Arena were ready to get their party started after they managed to see their drought end in convincing fashion.The Warriors' sporting neighbors also took to the Twitter airwaves to congratulate the team on their championship.For the fans less interested in the actual game, BuzzFeed had its eyes on America's favorite celebrity daughter, Riley Curry, who made an appearance before the trophy presentation.While many thought her father would be named Finals MVP, history was made in the award's voting, as the man responsible for guarding LeBron James instead took the honor.NBA TV's Jared Greenberg agreed with Iguodala's individual achievement.The stars of the NBA season's final installment probably built up quite a thirst in bringing home a championship.
