Govt urged to form partnership with private sector on sports

EXECUTIVE Director of Eko Idyll Group of Schools, Miss Titi Folowosele has appealed to government and the private sector to formpartnership so as to develop sports from the grass roots through provision of adequate modern sporting facilities.Folowosele said this during the inter-house sports comp-etition of the school held at the weekend.She noted thatpartnership between government and the private sector would in no small improve Nigerias performance at the international level and also raise the standard of sports in the country.Folowosele stated that the nation is blessed with many talent in sports which could be groomed to stardom.She emphasised the need for parents and teachers to encourage pupils to participate in sports as it helps to develop their physical and mental well being.Also speaking, Head mistress of the Nursery and Primary school, Mrs Mary Ogwashi advised children to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship adding the essence of sports was to promote love and develop talents in the students.Yellow House emerged winner in the nursery and primary category with four gold medals, three silver and one bronze medals. White House came second as Grey House finished third, while Blue House finished last.In the college category, Red House came tops with three gold, three silver and four bronze medals leaving Yellow, Green and Blue Houses in second, third and fourth positions respectively.
