Ojudu residents raise alarm over crime rate

Residents of Ojodu Abiodun , Omole, Alagbole and other parts  of Ojodu Berger  in Lagos State  have decried the  continual rise  in the rate of crime in the areas .The residents also appealed to the police and other security  personnel in the area to rise to the  challenge and save them from hoodlums , who  have reportedly taken control ofthe area .Residents of the Lagos communities informed the Community News that  they were getting used to  activities of armed robbers  as it has become a normal thing to hear of armed robbery in the area .A resident,  who identified himself  simply as Rotimi  stated thatrobbers come here  everyday  and it appears that the police cannot do anything  or that they are tired of the whole thing The resident , who is a journalist  narrated how he was attacked, in the area, by a gang of armed  robbers, who operated on motorcycles  and robbed him of valuables, including: mobile phones, computer laptops  and an undisclosed amount of money.I was  on my way home on a motorbike, when  a gang of four men  double crossed my  motorcycle, with theirs and pointed guns at my rider to halt the bike or be killed Rotimi narrated.He further narrated that  the armed robbers  operated about 10 minutes  and thoroughly  searched him and the rider, before finally leaving with their largesse.Another resident,  Femi   Balogun  also   expressed his displeasure  at  the level of insecurity,: especially around Ojodu communities  and called on the state  commissioner of police to rise to the occasion.Femi stated that cars  are snatched at will and  armed robbers , who operate on okada  take  advantage of the helplessness of the residents  to unleash mayhem and make life miserable for them .Adefemi Samuel , a residents of Ojodu Abiodun, informed the Community News that efforts by the landlords in the area to tackle the problem of insecurity had been futile, as the communities   serve as link between Ogun and Lagos States.
