We have some laudable projects but the way some of the youths are going about it is not acceptable to the government and we don't want to use force now, that is why we bring in this stakeholders forum to talk to them.'The OSOPADEC boss listed the projects affected by the activities of the youths to include the dredging from Ugbonla to the hinter part of the Ilaje, the extention of national grid from Ugbonla to Igo, model health centres and model schools. Also, the Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Banji Okunomo, noted that most of the problems facing the area were self inflicted as governments had been trying to bring development to the people. He said, 'This time around, we are ready to change our policy to ensure that the local content policy is implemented to the letter, we will ensure that the youths are actively involved in the developmental efforts in the local government'.Also speaking, the member representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rachael Nomiye, said there was the need to change the orientation of the youths of the area and make them embrace the developmental efforts of government. He said government had been trying to make the youth understand the benefit that would accrue to them in project delivery as such would make living more meaningful to them. The lawmaker, however, suggested the deployment of security operatives to guide the contractors working in the communities and their equipment to enable government achieve its aim of developing the communities in the riverrine area of the state.
