Early retirement: Jonathan urged to direct Army authorities to comply with court order

A former Public Relations Officer of the Directorate of Army Headquarters, Abuja, Colonel Wilson O.V Ijide (retd ), has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to direct the Chief Of Army Staff to comply with an Abuja High Court order restraining the Army authorities from retiring him prematurely.The former PRO, who said he was stunned when his compulsory retirement letter was handed over to him by the Nigerian Army authorities, frowned on the development he described as unconstitutional and ungodly, saying he did not commit any offence that could have warranted that.He then charged President Jonathan to intervene in the matter by calling for his file while in office and see how he had even contributed to the development of the force both within and outside.Colonel Ijide, who called for speedy action on the matter, urged the presidency to right all wrongs and at the same time save the unconnected ones in the army from being retired untimely and wickedly.The former force spokesperson said he went to court to challenge the untoward step taken by the Army authorities.
