Family Guy' Actor Patrick Warburton Has No Problem Turning Off The Show When It's 'Too Sacrilegious

Published by Huffington Post on Mon, 29 Jun 2015

"Family Guy" is notorious for its searing satire and no-holds-barred pop culture jabs, but even Patrick Warburton, who voices the paraplegic police officer Joe Swanson on the show, thinks its humor can sometimes cross the line. While Warburton's mother -- a Parents Television Council member -- has been especially outspoken about the long-running Fox cartoon in the past, Warburton said he is generally "okay with everything" on the show. But there was one particular joke that struck a nerve with the actor, he said in a Friday interview with HuffPost Live. While Warburton declined to give any specifics about the joke, he called it "the most offensive thing I'd ever seen ever in any form of media towards Christians." "It was something that was so offensive that I said, 'If that's in the show, I can't do this episode. ' Put it in another fucking episode that I'm not in,'" he told host Josh Zepps. "We all wonder if we have a line that can be crossed, and I just discovered there is actually a line with me.' Warburton added that he has no problem turning off the show when it takes its religious humor too far. 'It's because I'm a Christian, and it's also because I just see it as diminished returns. Like, it's something that you're just going to get a jillion people to just turn the TV off," he said. "We turn it off in our house every now and then, too, when it gets just too sacrilegious.'
