WWE Tough Enough 2015: Recap, Reaction and Elimination from July 14

Published by Bleacher Report on Wed, 15 Jul 2015

After four weeks of competition, the field is starting to narrow on WWE Tough Enough. Hank, Alex and Daria have all been eliminated, and Dianna chose to take herself out of the competition for personal reasons. With one extra person leaving last week than planned,WWE had to scramble to find a new contestant. Chelsea Green, whom many will remember as the physical therapist Stephanie McMahon claimed had an affair with Daniel Bryan, has joined the competition. The fact that the show chose to use someone new instead of giving a previously eliminated cast member another shot at stardom is a bit strange, but this is WWEand the company isn't always known for making the most logical decisions.Fourth Week's ChallengesKing Barrett was the special guest this week, and his job was to help the competitors deliver a good promo. He immediately started cutting a promo on Billy Gunn and Booker T, two men who had previously won the King of the Ring title. But that wasn't the actual competition. It was just an exercise to get the contestants ready for the real challenge. They went to a comedy club and had to give a promo directed at another member of the cast. Here is a breakdown of the matchups:Mada vs. JoshGiorgia vs. ChelseaTanner vs. PatrickGabi vs. AmandaSara Lee vs. ZZJosh tried, unsuccessfully, to use his British character from the gimmick challenge. Had Barrett been there, it's likely that he would have found the accent both insulting and hilarious at the same time. Gabi addressed the audience instead of her opponent, so it looked as if she had no idea what the point of the challenge wasand Amanda called her out on it.ZZ won his battle with Sara Lee, who seemed nervous and messed up some lines. Jericho got up there and laid into her about all the things he sees as weaknesses. Back in the studio, Paige showed some frustration with Sara's progress up to the this point, but Hulk Hogan thought she was at least trying harder. It felt like Patrick and Tanner were telling each other how they really felt instead of attempting to cut a fictional promo. It helped Patrick seal the win. Then the drama started. Patrick got into it with Mada and Josh, and things almost turned into another fight. ZZ was in the middle, trying to keep things civil, but his efforts were for naught in the end. Once the drinks started being thrown, it felt more like an episode of The Real Housewives than an episode of Tough Enough. The second challenge consisted of learning a basic tackle and a simple body slam. Most of the competitors had no problem picking up the basics, but Sara had trouble with both lifting and being lifted by someone else. Gunn read her the riot act for making the same mistakes over and over again.Josh and Chelsea were given wins for the day. It's good for the newest person in the house to establish herself as a real competitor, and she did just that.Patrick's ego wouldn't allow him to let Josh have the win. He just had to tell the camera that he was still the best. His confidence is a good trait to have, but his cockiness might be his downfall eventually.Meanwhile, Back at the BarracksChelsea was shown getting comfortable in the barracks before the contestants returned from last week's show. It took all of a minute before another argument broke out. This time, it was Gabi and Amanda bickering about the confrontation they had during last week's Tough Talk. It seemed like some of the other people in the barracks were tired of the drama from the looks on their faces. One of the few things that didn't revolve around an argument was a moment between Chelsea and Tanner. It looked like two eighth graders flirting with each other for the first time. Tanner pulled a fast one and stole a kiss when Chelsea went in for a hug. It's hard to say how she felt about it since they cut to the studio so quickly.Sara had a bit of a breakdown after the second challenge, but it was sweet to see Amanda, Giorgia and Chelsea support and console her after she was yelled at in two different challenges.Week 4 Elimination: GabiDuring the live segment, Paige got into an argument with Sara about not stepping up, and for the first time in this competition, Sara showed some fire. It might not be enough, but at least it's something.Hogan called out Patrick for some of the things he has been saying during the competition and even declared that his promo skills sucked after he had won the challenge earlier in the show. Hogan said he thought Mada should have won the promo contest instead of Patrick. When it came time to nominate three people, Paige picked Sara again, Bryan chose Gabi for her lack of promo skills and Hogan brought up Tanner.Instead of the usual 30-second plea, each person on the chopping block had a chance to cut a promo on the judge who had selected them for elimination.Once again, Gabi didn't seem to grasp the concept and pleaded to stay instead of doing what was asked of her. Tanner dropped the ball, too. Sara seemed to impress Paige with her promo. The judges opted not to use any saves for the fourth week in a row, and when the votes were tallied, Gabi was sent home. She might have been hiding her true emotions, but she didn't seem all that upset about being voted off the show.Tough TalkIt was interesting to find out that Gabi and Amanda's feud goes back to their days as fitness models, and it didn't just develop during the show. They kept things civil on stage, but you could tell there was no chance they would be going to get coffee together anytime soon.Patrick's issues with Tanner, Mada and Josh were brought up, and he continued to talk trash to everyone, like he had already won the competition. He and Mada were given the chance to cut promos on each other. Patrick won, but Mada proved he has a defined character in mind, should he ever make it to WWE.Chelsea acknowledged that it might not be fair that she was brought into the competition this late in the game, but she seemed dedicated to proving that she deserves to be there.Hogan gave ZZ a huge compliment when he said ZZ reminded him of Dusty Rhodes, and it was clear that it meant a lot to him as a big fan of The American Dream.Lita made an appearance toward the end of the show, and it was nice to see her give Sara a confidence boost by giving her props on her promo with Paige.Once again, The Miz showed why this is the perfect environment for him. He controls the situation without being pushy and has more than enough humor and charisma to keep things light and entertaining.Interesting TidbitsIt was good to see Bryan acknowledge that every person he has nominated has been eliminated in the first three weeks, and it happened again this week.Apparently, Tanner tried, and failed, to get with Sara Lee.Paige and Hogan think Tanner has no game, but Bryan respected his efforts.Hearing Hogan use the term "smart mark" was awesome, especially since he was using it when referring to Patrick.Renee Young looked like she didn't believe Gabi at all when Gabi said she wasn't there to pick fights.Sara won with 63 percent of the vote.It seems like every time Paige puts her up for elimination, she gets more popular.Daniel Bryan called the Battleground pay-per-view "Battlefield." Covering it up by saying Hogan called the Silverdome"theSuperdome" at WrestleMania 30 was hilarious because he got it backward.Hogan actually called the Superdome"theSilverdome" by mistake. It was funny that Bryan brought up the storyline he had with Chelsea and forced her to admit that there was no affair. It was also interesting to find out that Brie has popped both Bryan and Chelsea's eardrums when slapping them.Final ThoughtsRegardless of how you feel about the previous eliminations, the right person went home this week. Sara Lee may have struggled the most, but she has all the time in the world to improve based on how many votes she is getting.Gabi was surrounded by the most drama, and while that makes for good reality television, it won't help her in the locker room. When you spend 250 to 300 days a yearwith the same group of people, you have to be able to squash beefs and make peace, and she doesn't seem capable of doing that.It was great to see Patrick step up in the promo challenge, but his attitude is starting to wear thin. He might be talented and have the most historical knowledge, but he needs to learn how to be humble. Being cocky is telling everyone how good you are. Being confident is letting your actions do the talking for you.Granted, he is only 19. He is barely out of high school, so it's possible that he hasn't spent enough time in the real world to know how to interact with others using respect and humility. Hopefully, being called out for his arrogance will help him mature, because he has a lot of potential. With nine competitors left, we are starting to learn who has the most skill and who isn't measuring up. Hopefully, the fans start voting based on talent and not personality next week. Thanks for reading, andfollow meonTwitter@BR_Doctor.
