Gold Cup 2015: TV Schedule and Live Stream for Sunday Quarter-Finals Fixtures

Published by Bleacher Report on Sun, 19 Jul 2015

Sunday's quarter-final fixtures will see Trinidad and Tobago square off against Panama before Mexico take on Costa Rica in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with BT Sport and Fox Sports providing full TV coverage and live streams for both matches. The USA and Haiti have already booked their spots in the semi-finals, which will be played on Wednesday, July 22, and on Sunday, they'll learn who their opponents will be. The Soca Warriors and El Tri are expected to advance, but Panama and Costa Rica shouldn't be taken lightly. Here's everything you need to know about Sunday's fixtures. To access the BT Sport Player, click here. For Fox Soccer 2Go, click here. Mexico vs. Costa RicaThere were plenty of positives surrounding El Tri heading into the summer, but after a poor run during the 2015 Copa America and a mediocre showing in the Gold Cup group stages, the pressure is on manager Miguel Herrera to perform.Mexico battered Cuba in their first group-stage match, but successive draws against Trinidad and Tobago and Guatemala brought the team back down to earth. The final has always been the end goal for El Tri, and via ESPN FC's Tom Marshall, Herrera told reporters that hasn't changed:"I'm thinking about reaching Philadelphia and playing [the final] against the United States. We are [in the process of] correcting errors and need to eradicate them."He also confirmed Giovani Dos Santos has almost regained full fitness, although Herrera won't take any unnecessary risks:Of the four quarter-finals, this is undoubtedly the one fans were salivating over the most. Mexico are one of CONCACAF's top powerhouse teams, while Costa Rican football has developed tremendously in the past few years, highlighted by a phenomenal run through last year's World Cup.The squad combined defensive solidity with opportunistic attacking to advance from a tough group in 2014, and the recipe remains unchanged. Contrary to last year, however, Costa Rica is struggling to put their opponents away, and as a result, they've yet to win a match at the 2015 Gold Cup.El Tri have won just a single match so far, prompting this tweet from Soccer Morning's Trevor Hayward:Even without Dos Santos, Mexico has plenty of attacking firepower, so expect Costa Rica manager Paulo Wanchope to put plenty of men behind the ball. This will put even more responsibility on the shoulders of Bryan Ruiz, the side's main creative outlet. Expect Ruiz to see plenty of the ball on the counter-attack, and if he's successful, Costa Rica could come up with a surprising win.Trinidad and Tobago vs. PanamaPanama advanced from Group A without winning a match, but the squad impressed by holding the likes of Haiti and the USA to a draw. You could argue those results are in keeping with the squad's mentality and characterwhatever they may lack in pure quality, they make up for with hard work, and it has paid off so far. They may have found their match in Trinidad and Tobago, however, who showed plenty of fight in their thrilling 4-4 draw against Mexico:It was an incredible comeback for the Soca Warriors, who now enter the knockout stages undefeated and full of confidence. And after such a strong run, even more is expected.Watch the highlights of the match against Mexico again, and you'll notice the first two goals are direct results of the squad's incredible athletic ability. With the ball at their feet, the Soca Warriors are incredibly fast, and they use both their pace and physicality to devastating effects.Panama can match the Soca Warriors for pace, particularly out wide, and they also don't mind getting a little physical. All the ingredients are there for an incredible match and a true clash of styles.Joevin Jones has been one of the standout performers of the Gold Cup so far, and given Panama's tendency to sit back and let play come to them, the wing-back will be asked to advance very high up the pitch and carve open the defence. Upper 90 Soccer's Ben Jata has been impressed with his performance so far:Combined with the Soca Warriors' ability in the air, you have to like their chances of unlocking this Panama defence. It won't be easy, but expect Trinidad and Tobago's excellent run to continue.Follow @ReverschPass
