Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar: Winner and Reaction from 2015 WWE Battleground

Published by Bleacher Report on Mon, 20 Jul 2015

Brock Lesnar entered Battleground with revenge on his mind in a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins, and he achieved that with a brutal beating, before the Undertaker appeared to interrupt the match right as Lesnar had pinned Rollins to the mat.WWE.com deemed the match a no-contest.WWE and WWE Universe captured a few of the many suplexes Lesnar delivered to Rollins:But Rollins was ultimately an afterthought as Lesnar and Undertaker became the main event. WWE Universe captured one of the highlights: Rollins beat Lesnar and Roman Reigns in a Triple Threat match to win the title at WrestleMania, but that was only after he unexpectedly cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on the two exhausted competitors. The Architect of The Shield pinned Reigns in that match, so he went into Battleground having never pinned The Beast Incarnate. It looked as though Rollins would have backup in the form of The Authority as J&J Security and Kane helped Rollins beat down Lesnar a few weeks prior to the pay-per-view. The complexion changed quickly, though, as The Conquerer took out Rollins' support system one by one.Despite everything crumbling around him, Rollins remained defiant ahead of Sunday's match, per WWE:Rollins ran away from The Beast, which resulted in Kane suffering a leg injury at the hands of Lesnar, but The Authority's handpicked face of the company continued to express confidence on Twitter:Many felt as though that confidence was misguided considering Paul Heyman's insistence that his client had been waiting to destroy Rollins ever since WrestleMania, per WWE Universe:While everything seemed to be working in Lesnar's favor considering Rollins' lack of help, there was still a great deal of intrigue leading up to Battleground. That is due to the fact that Rollins and The Authority always seem to have a plan in place. At the same time, Lesnar's ability to dismantle his opponents is special, so a large portion of the WWE Universe was likely hoping to see The Beast destroy the cocky champion in much the same way he did to John Cena at last year's SummerSlam. The big question now is where Rollins goes from here. With Lesnar seemingly set to take on Undertaker at SummerSlam, Rollins' next feud is up in the air.Lesnar is among the most special talents professional wrestling has ever seen, and it doesn't take much effort on WWE's part to make him a must-see part of its programming. After the events of Battleground, that certainly won't change on the road to SummerSlam.Follow@MikeChiarion Twitter.
