Quincy Acy to Kings: Latest Contract Details, Analysis and Reaction

Published by Bleacher Report on Tue, 21 Jul 2015

The Sacramento Kings added another new piece to their revamped frontcourt Monday, agreeing to a deal with Quincy Acy.Acy announced the news on Instagram, and he issued a message to fans:We're going going, back back to Sac!!" First I want to thank the Knicks organization, the great Phil Jackson, coach Fisher and the city of New York and the fans for giving me a chance, thank you. Now I'm ready to get back to Great Fans in Sac and get to it again.Per RealGM's Shams Charania, the agreement is for two years, with the second year being a player option. This will be Acy's second stint in Sacramento. He played 56 games for the Kings in 2013-14, averaging 2.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. The franchise dealt him to the New York Knicks last summer in a deal that included Travis Outlaw and saw Wayne Ellington and Jeremy Tyler move the other way.The 24-year-old posted 5.9 points, 4.4 boards and 0.3 blocks in a little under 19 minutes a night for New York. It's probably not a far leap to say the Kings reallybegan targeting Acy after Luc Mbah a Moute failed his physical earlier in the month, canceling the deal he had agreed to with the team.Sactown Royalty's Greg Wissinger doesn't mind the move given some of the other options on the market a few weeks ago:Acy's ability to space the floor will also come in handy after the Kings drafted Willie Cauley-Stein and signed Kosta Koufos, both of whom specialize more on the defensive end. This move won't radically transform Sacramento's fortunes in 2015-16, but if the franchise is truly aiming for the postseason, then it can't have enough of the depth Acy will help provide.
