MOC in Lagos for inspection, ratification of festival logo

MEMBERS of the Main Organizing Committee (MOC) of the Lagos 2012 National Sports Festival (NSF) led by its Chairman, Patrick Ekeji, arrived in Lagos yesterday for inspection of facilities for the festival.After the inspection, members of the MOC will meet with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) headed by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulere. It will be the first meeting of the LOC and MOC since they were inaugurated by the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, and the Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission (NSC), Bolaji Abdullahi, respectively.According to the LOC Secretary General, Dr. Kwenku Adedayo Tandoh, the facilities to be inspected include the Rowe Park Sports Centre in Yaba, which will host some events, the University of Lagos, which will accommodate athletes and host some events.The MOC team will also inspect facilities at the Federal College of Education, Akoka, and Yaba College of Technology for accommodation of athletes. Tandoh also said the team would inspect facilities at the National and Teslim Balogun stadia, both in Surulere, Lagos.After today's inspection, the MOC team, which includes all the directors in the NSC, Billy Adedamola, Gen. Okaro and Ababa Yola as secretary, will meet with the LOC team led by Orelope-Adefulere, the Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Wahid Oshodi, Molade Okoya-Thomas, Tony Elumelu, Ademola Seriki, Wale Edun and others, with Tandoh as scribe.At the meeting, the MOC will examine the festival logo, which would be ratified before it could be used by the LOC. The meeting will also deliberate on the festival time-line, which will be harmonized by the MOC and the LOC. Also, members of the LOC sub-committees would be named today.
